Mr. Yeshi Dorji, Managing Director and Chief Consultant

 

He has a Dual Masters Degree in Public Policy and Management from Carnegie Mellon University, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA with campus in Adelaide, South Australia in 2009 and Bachelor of Technology in Electrical & Electronics Engineering from the University of Kerala, India in 2002. Right after the graduation, he joined into service as an Engineer for Operation and Maintenance Unit, under the Electricity Services Division, Bhutan Power Corporation Limited, Thimphu, Bhutan. Then he was appointed as the Manager for the same unit in 2004 and by 2005, he has been transferred to Planning and Construction Unit as Manager, Engineer and Technical advisor to the Senior Manager, Electricity Services Division. During that time he has been involved in design, estimation, feasibility study, project management, administration and providing technical services to the division.

 

He proceeded to pursue his higher studies in Australia with the Carnegie Mellon University from USA in 2008. It was during that time that he has gain extensive knowledge in research and management fields. Besides the study, he has also worked in number of agencies while in Australia such as a researcher and consultant for Northern Volunteering South Australia (Non-profit organization), South Australia Network of Drug and Alcohol Services (Government owned non-profit organization), Department of Education and Children's Services (Government of South Australia), Aboriginal Highlands District Office (Government of South Australia), Wiltja Residential Programs (Government of South Australia) etc. He has also carried out real life projects as part of the study for Adelaide Municipal corporation (financial analysis), South Australia Offenders and Prisoners (Strategic Planning), Program evaluation for Vounteering Australia and Tourism Development Australia etc.

 

After returning from studies, he has worked for Planning and Coordination Unit under the Managing Director, Bhutan Power corporation Limited to look after the coordination, progress reporting, performance evaluation and as a special advisor to the company from 2010 onwards until 2012. Then after 2012, he has been appointed as Head of the Corporate Planning and Business Development Division under the Managining Director, Bhutan Power Corporation Limited to look after the business aspects and corporate affairs of the company until 2015. Besides, he has been a managing partner for this consultancy company from 2012 onwards as a part-time consultant and infact he was already involved into number of consultancy works at that time onwards.

 

So with over 14 years of experience working in the corporate sector in various capacities combined with international work experience and expertise gained as a local cosultant, it would be of immense benefit for the firm to utilize his knowledge and skills in delivering the services. His expertise lies in both technical and management fields. He has vast experience in electrical engineering both in terms of practical field experience combined with planning, feasibility study, cost estimation, designing, project management and analysis. In the management field, his experience lies in business development, performance evaluation, monitoring, policy development & review, strategic planning, human resource management, organizational development, financial analysis, economic analysis, information technology, statistics, research and social analysis.

 

Mr. Hemlal Dahal, Senior Consultant and Managing Partner

 

He has a Bachelor of Engineering with major in Electrical Engineering from the College of Science and Technology, Rinchending, Bhutan in 2011 and Diploma in Electrical Engineering from the Jigme Namgyel Polytechnic, Dewothang, Bhutan in 1987. He joined as Assistant Engineer in Department of Power in the year 1987 and has been promoted as Divisional Engineer in 1990 and served as Executive Engineer until 1998.

 

He got resigned from the civil service and started his career in the private sector, where he served as General Manager, Etho Metho Electrics from 1999 to 2001, Project Engineer for Singye Construction from 2001 to 2005, consultant for Norlha Associates from 2005 to 2011. Then as Design and Planning Engineer for Yalama Arts and Consultancy, Thimphu from 2011 to 2012 and as Project Manager for Nima Powers Limited from 2012 to 2014. He also had an opportunity to work as Senior Electrical Inspector for Woosun Energy and Construction Corporation Limited, Korea under ACCORD in Dhaka, Bangladesh.

 

So he has extensive experience working in the civil service as well as in the private sector including the international experience. It will be of great help to the consultancy firm to extract his experience of over 24 years and bring about a change in organizational performance and services.

 

Mr. Passang Dorji, Senior Consultant and Managing Partner

 

He has a Master of Management from the University of Canberra, Australia in 2013 and Bachelor of Arts in Economics from the Delhi University, Sherubtse College, Kanglung, Bhutan in 2004. he also has a Diploma in Climate Journalism, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Denmark in 2009. In 2006, he joined as an employment officer in Ministry of Labour and Human Resources and after one year of this service, he resigned from the civil service and joined as Chief Reporter in Bhutan Times Limited in 2007. From 2009 to 2010, he was the Head of the Operations for the Journalist Private Limited, then as a  visiting faculty for Institute of Management Studies in 2010. He also worked as part-time editor for Bhutan Observer in 2011 and then from 2010 to 2013, he was the managing partner for Research and Analysis House.

 

He also served as the President for the Journalists Association of Bhutan from 2012 to 2014, advisor for Bhutan Center for Media and Democracy (BCMD) from 2012 onwards and also the Founding Member for Transparency International Bhutan Contact Group from 2013 onwards. Besides, he was involved in the following projects as a consultant:

 

  • To conduct “Baseline Survey – Sanitation and Hygiene in three small towns in Samtse District for SNV Bhutan

  • To develop communications plan for Swiss Development Cooperation (SDC), Thimphu

  • To Develop overall Management Plan for The Bhutanese Private Limited

  • Parliamentary  Reporting  for  the  UNDP  with  DANIDA  as  the  contracting agency.

  • Edited and Published 50 Years of project DANTAK Bhutan, Thimphu.

  • Edited and  Published The  Sixteenth  SAARC  Summit in BHUTAN.

  • Edited and published the Mid-term Report of the 10th Five Year Plan, Royal Government of Bhutan, Thimphu.

 

Mr. Tshering Samdrup, Senior Consultant and Managing Partner

 

He has a Master of Science in Agricultural Economics from Humboldt University Zu Berlin, Germany under the Erasmus Mundus Scholar in 2013 and Bachelor of Arts in Economics Honors from Sherubtse College, Kanglung, Bhutan in 2006. He also has a Certificate in Public-Private Cooperation, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Denmark under DANIDA Fellow in 2010. He started his career as Revenue and Sales Manager for Bhutan Times Limited in 2007 and as Finance Manager for Wedia Incorporation, Thimphu in 2011, then as a research consultant for MediaMax, Thimphu in 2013. As a researcher and consultant, he has taken up the following projects:

 

  • Situational Assessment of Journalists in Bhutan for Journalists Association of Bhutan

  • To conduct Baseline Survey of Sustainable Sanitation and Hygiene for All under three small towns of Samtse for Urban WASH Sector, SNV, Bhutan

  • To Develop most marketable and certifiable vocational Training for Youth Development and Rehabilitation Centre (YDRC), commissioned by UNICEF, Bhutan and Royal Bhutan Police (RBP)

  • To develop Management Plan of Cold Storage and Processing Unit for Integrated Agriculture Technological Farm commissioned by SNV, Bhutan

  • To conduct Tracer Study for Children in Conflict with the Law commissioned by the Youth Development Fund, Save the Children-Bhutan and Royal Bhutan Police (RBP)

  • To draft the Human Resource and Financial Guidelines, Articles of Association and Memorandum of Understanding for the Journalist Association of Bhutan.

  • Media Development Assessment in Bhutan based on UNESCO-MDI commissioned by the Department of Information and Media, Ministry of Information and Communications.

 

Mr. Gopilal Acharya, Senior Consultant and Managing Partner

 

He has a Master of Global Journalism from Orebro University, Sweden in 2005 along with Bachelor of Arts (English Honors) from Sherubtse College, Kanglung, Bhutan in 2000. He also has Post Graduate Certificate in Education from Samtse College of Education, Bhutan in 2001. He is a prolific writer and has written number of books and periodicals.

 

He joined as a Teacher in Drugyel Higher Secondary School in Paro in 2000 and after 2 years of service, he resigned from the profession of a teacher and then joined as Reporter in Kuensel Corporation Limited until 2006. Then he joined as Editor for The Journalist Private Limited and Bhutan Times Limited from 2006 to 2010. After that he was a consultant and managing partner for Research and Analysis House, Thimphu. It was during that time, he could involved into number of projects as follows:

 

  • Revision of TVET policy, Department of Occupational Standards, Ministry of Labour and Human Resources, Thimphu

  • Rationalization exercise for manpower requirement, Royal Audit Authority, Thimphu

Mr. Pushpalal Sharma, Senior Consultant and Researcher

 

He has a Bachelor of Engineering with major in Electrical and Electronics Engineering from the Roorkee University of Technology, India in 1996. He started his career as Assistant Engineer under the Department of Power in 1996, then as a Manager for the Regional Office in Trashigang until 2003. In the same year, he was transferred as Senior Engineer for Customer Service Department under Bhutan Power Corporation Limited after the corporatization of the erstwhile Department of Power. After that he was again transferred to Engineering Design and Contracts Department as a Senior Engineer to look after the engineering design, feasibility studies and technical expertise in 2007. Then from 2010 until 2012, he has been serving as the Chief Safety and Complaince Officer under the Safety Compliance and Monitoring Division under the supervision of the Managing Director, Bhutan Power Corporation Limited.

 

Overall he has over 18 years of experience working in the power sector in various capacities ranging from engineer, manager and to the level of chief officer. His expertise lies in safety, technical operation, feasibility studies, policy development, research, analysis and programming in information technology.

 

Mr. Younten Jamtsho, Consultant

 

He has a Bachelor of Engineering with major in Electrical Engineering from the College of Science and Technology, Rinchending, Royal University of Bhutan in 2011.He started his career as Design and Planning Engineer, Yalama Arts and Consutlancy, Thimphu from 2011 to 2012, then as Project Engineer, Nima Powers Private Limited, Thimphu from 2012 to 2014. During that time, he was engaged in design, planning and management of the projects for rural electrification programs, construction of substations, compound lighting and administration of the projects. He also got an opportunity to work as Senior Inspector for Woosun Energy and Construction Corporation Limited, Korea under ACCORD in Dhaka, Bangladesh.

 

Although he is the youngest among the consultants, he has spirit to learn further and has keen interest to carry out research and analysis in the field of engineering, social and management aspects.
